Teamwork in tendering

“The strength of the team is each individual member. The strength of each member is the team”  – Phil Jackson

At Tender Plus, we share the same sentiment as legendary NBA coach Phil Jackson, whose strong emphasis on teamwork has seen him lead teams that dominate courts home and away.

This same strategy applies to tendering.

Working solo often means that we’re juggling multiple tasks at once, and this can be extremely difficult to mentally navigate. From managing strategy and win themes to technical inputs, compliance, and deadlines, it all increases the risk of fatigue. Working in a team, on the other hand, enables us to effectively achieve the same, if not better results sans burnout.

‍Additionally, teamwork in tendering also offers a range of benefits that lead to stronger submission outcomes. These include greater creativity by bringing new ideas to the table, increased efficiency, and improved quality through allocation of schedules to individuals based on their strengths and experience, and also better problem-solving to resolve issues throughout the tender process.‍ ‍

However, achieving the above depends on effective teamwork, which relies on possessing a range of soft skills, such as:‍ ‍

Active listening ‍ ‍

This ensures an accurate understanding of the different perspectives in the room because the way we receive information is equally as important as how we express ourselves. By listening carefully and giving proper thought to differing opinions, we are better able to understand the rationale behind differing inputs rather than relying on our individual assumptions. This will reduce conflict throughout the submission process. ‍ ‍

Empathy‍ ‍

While active listening focuses on the message, empathy shines a light on the emotion behind it. Why is this important? Demonstrating empathy enables teams to understand the drivers behind each decision or opinion, making it easier to navigate the challenges particularly when dealing with tight deadlines. ‍ ‍

Adaptability‍ ‍

In a fast paced and dynamic environment such as tendering, quick adaptation is required to ensure deadlines are met. Being adaptable means you’re able to pivot quickly where required and manage conflicting demands that arise which allows you to stay on track. ‍ ‍

In tendering, not only is shared effort more sustainable, it also leads to stronger outcomes. All of us at Tender Plus bring significant collaboration experience and can work alongside you to develop and deliver submissions on time and with exceptional quality.
