Common challenges and how to overcome them #1

A series of insights from Principal Tender Specialist, Tania Field

Problem:

One person responsible for reviewing and approving too many schedules. Leads to:

  1. A bottle neck in the process.

  2. Lack of trust and causes frustration in the tender team.

  3. Delays milestones and follow-on processes.

Quick fix:

Limit review to strategic and commercially sensitive schedules. Find a trusted peer to review the balance of schedules.

Long-term fix:

  • Plan - don’t load up one person with more than a handful of schedules.

  • Time - consider familiarity with content, size of document, and time available.

  • Type - be clear if you are after a detailed or strategic review and how feedback can be provided.
